Kohkoh is the Amis word describing the sound of boulders rolling in the Siouguluan River. Located in the plains of the East Rift Valley, it is bordered in the west by the Central Mountain Range, in the east by the coastal mountain range, and in the south by Wuhe Terrace. The center of Kohkoh consists of numerous alluvial fans formed by the Siouguluan River and its tributaries. The flat terrain is conducive for farming operations. In Ruisui Township, Kiwit, Olaw, Olalip, Koyo, Sapat, Kalala, and Maifor have developed diverse industries including pomelo, coffee, tea, and roselle, forming Hualien's most spectacular region with abundant environmental resources and ethnic inclusiveness.
